Huge fire breaks out in east London apartment block | UK news
A block of flats burns in the east London: More than 100 people were evacuated from their homes.
Just before 3am, over 200 firefighters and 40 London Fire Brigade vehicles were called to a major fire on Freshwater Road in Dagenham.
The scaffolding around the buildings is on fire; the ground floor, the sixth floor and the roof also catch fire.
Station manager Alan Bendell, who is on site, said: “The fire is producing heavy smoke and we advise residents to keep windows and doors closed.”
“Two of the brigade’s 32-metre-long turntable ladders are being used on site as aerial water towers to assist in firefighting from heights.
“Freshwater Road is closed to traffic, so please avoid this area if possible.”
