Train rocker Charlie Colin dies at the age of 58 after falling in the shower

The founder of the rock band Train, Charlie Colin, has died at the age of 58 after a fall in the shower.
The bassist, who struggled with drug problems for years, was described as a “beautiful human being” in a tribute from his mother on Wednesday (22.05.24) when she announced his sudden death.
According to TMZ, she told the outlet he died “after slipping and falling in the shower while house-sitting for a friend in Brussels, Belgium.”
The outlet added: “It’s unclear exactly when he fell. She tells us no one found Charlie until his friends returned home from their trip about five days ago.”
Apparently, Charlie had moved to Brussels, where he was giving a master class in music at a conservatory while simultaneously working in a studio completing the music for a film.
TMZ added: “His mother shared an emotional tribute to her son… calling him a wonderful human being.”
According to reports, Colin was forced to leave the hit group Train in 2003 due to apparent problems with substance abuse.
Lead singer Pat Monahan, 55, said at the time: “Charlie is an incredible bass player, but he was in a lot of pain and the way he dealt with it was very painful for everyone around him.”
Pat is said to have called a band meeting so that the band members could choose between himself and Colin.
He added at the time: “They were not happy with the choice. They made it very clear that I had put them in a very difficult position.”
Pat said the ultimatum came after Colin was a “wreck” during a live performance in Oregon.
Charlie helped found Train in San Francisco in the mid-1990s along with fellow members Pat, Rob Hotchkiss, Jimmy Stafford and Scott Underwood.
They were successful with their self-titled debut album “Train” in 1998 and became known for hits such as “Drops of Jupiter”, “Meet Virginia” and “Hey, Soul Sister”.
The band won two Grammy Awards in 2002, one for Best Rock Song and the other for Best Instrumental Arrangement for Vocal Accompaniment.
