This is part of a series that offers a non-partisan alternative to Project 2025a conservative directive to reform government and policymaking during the first 180 days of a second Trump administration. The Fulcrum’s cross-party analysis of Project 2025 relies on unbiased critical thinking, examines outdated assumptions and uses reason, scientific evidence and data in analysis and criticism Project 2025.

Of the nearly 200 opinion pieces I have published since 2013, none has found more readers than my June 4 article in The Fulcrum entitled “Project 2025 is a threat to democracy.” In fact, this comment was the inspiration for The Fulcrum’s comprehensive analysis of Project 2025.

The Series of cross-party opinion pieceswhere there are no predetermined left or right solutions, explores the nuances and complexities of Project 2025.

If you’re not familiar with Project 2025, it’s a playbook created specifically for Donald Trump for the first 180 days of his second term. The far-right Heritage Foundation spent $22 million to create the 887-page strategy book, which involved 34 authors, 277 contributors, a 54-member advisory board, and a coalition of 110 conservative organizations (including the American Legislative Exchange Council, the Heartland Institute, Liberty University, the Middle East Forum, Moms for Liberty, the NRA, Pro-Life America, and the Tea Party Patriots). The book is officially titled “Mandate for Leadership 2025: The Conservative Promise.” it is available to read online.

It is important to note that Heritage President Kevin Roberts has close ties to Trump, vice presidential candidate JD Vance and Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has called the Hungarian dictatorship of Prime Minister Viktor Orban The Model” of conservative politics.

The 30 chapters of Project 2025, described by Politico as an authoritarian Christian nationalist movement with the deliberate intention of transforming America from a democracy into an autocratic-fascist country are frightening reading.

Trump has tried to distance himself from Project 2025, At least 140 people who worked in his government were involved in drafting the planVance wrote the foreword to Roberts’ upcoming book, but interestingly, due to the growing controversy surrounding Project 2025, sales have been delayed until after the November 5 election.

In addition, 23 videos totaling 14 hours of content were created to teach future Trump administration nominees how to implement Project 2025’s plan to transform the American form of government into a dictatorship and undermine the rule of law, separation of powers, civil liberties, and separation of church and state. 29 of the 36 speakers in training videos worked for Trump or Vance.

On July 5 at 9:39 a.m., Trump posted on Truth Social: “I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they are saying.”

National columnist Will Bunch responded: “I wish Trump luck convincing a single person on either side of the political divide that he knows nothing about Project 2025, when somehow he knows he disagrees with most of it. In fact, this is Trump’s 2024 version of the Big Lie.”

There is a wealth of evidence – a standard of proof used in most civil cases – linking Trump and Vance to Project 2025.

According to a YouGov poll conducted July 8-11, 59 percent of American adults are aware of Project 2025, including 71 percent of Democrats, 55 percent of Republicans and 50 percent of independents.

Another YouGov poll found that 68 percent of Project 2025’s proposed policies are rejected by Americans. Could this mean that about one in three adults, possibly MAGA Republicans, support presidential dictatorship, Christian nationalism, and the power of white male supremacy?

Project 2025 is a topic that every registered voter should be very well informed about. If Trump is elected, there is a very high probability that he will implement the multifaceted recommendations of the 30 chapters.

This is an election that cannot be sat out. Your vote on November 5th will determine the future of our country for your children, grandchildren and heirs.
