15-year-old girl rescued from child marriage in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Quick action on a Complaint received on police Hotline, Hoskote Police and Department of Women and Child Development Officials prevented a Child marriage And saved a 15-year-old Girl on Sunday.
The child was then taken to a government girls’ home in Doddaballapur. The authorities have not yet filed a complaint against those involved, including the girl’s family members and the man who wanted to marry her.
The rescue was carried out at around 2 am on Sunday at Kanaka Bhavan in Hoskote by a team under the supervision of a police inspector. BS Ashok.The reception of the wedding of the minor girl with a 24-year-old man (Yashwanth C), a resident of Shakthi Layout in Code Halli of KR Puram, was interrupted. The girl is from a village near Malur in Kolar district.

According to police, one of the guests at the reception suspected that the girl was a minor and alerted the police control room. Police officers along with women and child development officials rushed to the scene. The girl was produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) officials. The officials may file a complaint on Monday and the CWC officials and a woman police officer will record a detailed statement from the girl.
The girl’s father is said to be an alcoholic, while her mother takes care of the family’s daily needs. She had thought of marrying off her daughter to free herself from the “burden,” a police officer said. The groom is her distant relative.
