Announcement of the Board of Directors’ Succession: Mark Thurston Appointed Chief Executive of Anglian Water
The Board of Anglian Water is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Thurston as designated CEO of the Group. Mark will be the Business on July 1, 2024 and will be appointed to the Board of Anglian Water and the Anglian Water Group Limited on August 5th, and then he will Peter Simpson as CEO of the Group.
Mark is a very experienced leader with over 30 years He has held senior roles on major infrastructure projects including the Olympic Games, Crossrail and most recently High Speed Two (HS2), and has played a key role in the growth of engineering company CH2M. He was the longest serving CEO of HS2, the largest infrastructure project in EuropeDuring his tenure, he oversaw the development of an organization and a joint venture partnership model with the largest supply chain of all Infrastructure project in Great Britain. With extensive experience in both in the public and private sectors, Mark has a strong track record in projects requiring complex stakeholder engagement, including interfacing with high-level regulators and government bodies.
After starting his career as an apprentice engineer on the London Underground, Mark became a chartered engineer and an honorary member of the Association for Project Management. and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
As announced in October 2023, Peter Simpson will resign from the Board in August 2024and will remain with the Company as a strategic advisor to support a smooth leadership transition before he retires.

No further information is to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13R with respect to Mark Thurston’s Appointment appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Group.
