BBC ‘gathering evidence’ after complaints against ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Giovanni Pernice – report

It was a rollercoaster week for the BBC’s biggest entertainment show, Be sure to come and dance.

The TV competition, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary,th anniversary with a BAFTA award for best entertainment show last weekend, is reportedly investigating “serious complaints” against one of its best-known dance professionals, who left the show this week.

The Times of London quotes a City film lawyer as telling British media that the BBC is now “gathering evidence” after allegations were made against Giovanni Pernice, who has been on the show for over a decade and won it in 2021 with his partner, deaf actress Rose Ayling-Ellis.

And The sun As the newspaper reports, actress Amanda Abbington, who worked with Pernice last year but left the show after a few weeks for health reasons, is one of the plaintiffs along with two other unnamed people.

Be sure to come and dance is the BBC’s biggest entertainment show and the original idea behind dozens of international versions, called Dancing with the stars in most countries. The name goes back to a popular dance show in Great Britain Come dance hosted by the BBC, ran for several decades until the 1990s.

Abbington has made no secret of her desperation. It was previously reported that she had asked the BBC to release video footage of her rehearsals with Pernice. The BBC has stood by its star dancer – he recently filmed two travel series for the broadcaster with colleagues. Strictly Professional Anton du Beke – however, his name is not currently associated with the 2024 series.
