Quinta Brunson, creator of Abbott Elementary, has confirmed that there will be a crossover event in the fourth season of the series.

Brunson, who also stars in the Primetime Emmy Award-winning comedy series, announced at Comic-Con over the weekend that a history-making episode is in the works (via Entertainment Weekly).

“We’re going to do an interesting crossover this season, but I won’t tell you with who or what or when, but it’s going to be exciting and I think it’s going to change television as we know it,” she predicted.

Brunson declined to provide any further information about this crossover – but we’re sure fans will have plenty of theories in the coming weeks and months.

The workplace comedy series has been renewed for a fourth season, shortly after the delayed third season finally premiered last winter.

When the renewal was announced, Brunson told Deadline, “We shot the pilot in a school in West Adams (in Los Angeles). Going from having to use these real classrooms to having to use multiple corners of the WB lot, it’s crazy to see where we are now.”

“When we were shooting the pilot… I turned to Sheryl Lee Ralph and said, ‘You can feel this, can’t you?’ It was clear that we were on the verge of something special. It shows how television affects people’s lives. We could not have predicted this growth even in our wildest dreams.”

Abbott Elementary enters its fourth season with seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series.

Brunson won the award for Best Actress last year and now faces strong competition from Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”), Selena Gomez (“Only Murders in the Building”), Maya Rudolph (“Loot”), Jean Smart (“Hacks”) and Kristen Wiig (“Palm Royale”).

Abbott Elementary School will return on October 9, 2024 on ABC in the US. In the UK Disney+ streams the show.
