Man attacked for attempting to harass girl

Belagavi: A mob attacked a man for allegedly attempting to sexually exploit a 12-year-old schoolgirl and handed him over to the police in Raibag town on Saturday. Police arrested him after treating him at the government hospital. According to sources, the accused Sunil Dipale took the girl on his motorcycle by offering her a lift when she was walking on Kancharwadi Road. When she realised that he was heading to a remote area, she asked him to stop the motorcycle. When he did not oblige, the girl screamed for help after which locals rushed to her aid – they beat up the accused. Raibag police have registered a case.
Man from Ballari loses 32.5 lakh rupees to Online fraud
Ballari: A city resident was cheated of Rs 3.25 crore in an online scam, following which a case was filed with the CEN station. Recently, an online person named Shruti sent a WhatsApp message to the victim saying, “We will share information about the stock market. If you invest, you could make substantial profits.” Convinced by the claims, the person downloaded the app sent to her and started investing in it. In total, she contributed Rs 3.25 crore. However, when she did not get her investment back, she realised that it was a scam and filed a complaint with the CEN station.
Food poisoning: Suspension of HM recommended
Kushtagi (Koppal): Following an incident in which more than 70 students fell ill after midday meal at a government school in Bijakal village in the taluk, suspension of the school’s principal has been recommended. On Saturday, Shekaragouda Ramatnal, a member of the Karnataka State Rights Protection Commission, visited the school to inspect the cooking facilities. During his visit, he interacted with students and officials. He expressed disappointment that principal Manjula had not checked the quality of meals prepared in the school. Villagers complained several times about the condition of toilets, kitchen, cleanliness and other facilities of the school. Shekaragouda warned PDO Anandrao Kulkarni, who was present, that action would be taken if these problems were not addressed. A report has been submitted to the authorities concerned recommending suspension of Manjula, the principal, and action to replace the cooks.
Indefinite sit-in strike by the truck owners’ association enters its fifth day
Ballari: The ongoing sit-in organised by the Truck Owners Association outside several factories on the outskirts of Ballari had already lasted five days on Sunday. Minchu Srinivas, the chairman of the truck owners’ association, said that protests for a hike in transport fees were nothing new. He expressed disappointment that the owners of sponge iron factories and rice mills had not kept their promises, including an increase in transport fees, despite previous negotiations. The owners of sponge iron factories and rice mills are promising further talks. Minchu Srinivas, however, said the strike would only end if the association’s demands were met. The strike has brought civilian truck traffic to a complete standstill. Only dump trucks are still on the move in the area.

BJP’s month-long membership recruitment campaign begins today
Hosapete (Vijayanagara): BJP district president Channabasavanagouda Patil stated that a month-long membership drive will be organised in all districts of the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the campaign on Monday. Chairing the district workshop for the membership drive 2024 organised by BJP’s Vijayanagara district unit on Sunday, he highlighted that Mangaluru district has had the highest number of members so far. He pointed out that the united Ballari district was third last time. He expressed optimism that Vijayanagara district will come first this time.
