Body of 15-year-old girl found floating in New York Bay: Police

The body of a 15-year-old girl was found in the bay near Sunset Park in Brooklyn on Sunday morning, police said.

The teenager – identified by police as Nancy Zheng – was pulled from the water by divers at around 8:30 a.m. at the northwest corner of Bush Terminal Park.

A police source told the Post that there was no suspicion of third-party negligence.

They said Zheng’s family reported her missing from their home – just blocks south of the park on 55th Street – around 8 p.m. the previous evening.

The family told police that Zheng said she wanted to harm herself and had suicidal thoughts, the police source said.

Photos from the scene of the accident showed divers swimming out to rescue the young girl’s body and bring it to shore.

Investigators cordoned off the surrounding area for investigations.

A police spokesman said the coroner would determine the cause of death of the teenagers.
