Best bets for the ATP US Open, including Monfils vs Schwartzman

ATP US Open 1/64 finals

Monfils – Schwartzman: 26.08.2024 20:30 CEST
H2H: 2-3

Gaël Monfils has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Cincinnati, Monfils reached the round of 16, where he lost to Rune in three close sets. On his way to the round of 16, Monfils defeated Popyrin and also beat Alcaraz. Monfils will look to go far here in New York to secure his place in the top 50. So far this season, Gael has not had any notable results. Last year in New York, Monfils lost in the second round to Rublev in four sets.

Diego Schwartzman has won three of his last five matches. Here in New York, Diego fought successfully in the qualifying tournament. Schwarzman has won all three qualifying matches in straight sets. Recently, at his home tournament in Buenos Aires, he announced that he will retire from professional tennis next February. However, this will be his last US Open tournament. Last year in New York, Diego lost his opening match to Rinderknech in straight sets.

Best bet

According to the bookies, Monfils is the favorite in this matchup and we agree. Although Schwartzman won all of his qualifying matches in straight sets, he still struggled in every match. Monfils showed great tennis last week, so we believe he will win easily here.

Apart from that, Monfils covering the handicap of the match is a worthwhile bet.

Value bet/best odds: Gael Monfils -6.5 games handicap @1.91 @bet365

Opelka – Musetti: August 26, 2024 8:30 p.m. CEST
H2H: 3-0

Reilly Opelka has lost four of his last five matches. Last week in Winston-Salem, Reilly lost his opening match against Bergs in three tight sets. The American is still trying to find his best form after a long absence from the court. For the past two years, Opelka has not competed here in New York due to his back injury. His last appearance at the US Open was in 2021, where he lost in the round of 16 to Harris in four tight sets.

Lorenzo Musetti has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Cincinnati, Lorenzo lost to Tiafoe in straight sets in the round of 16. Before that, Musetti defeated Auger-Aliassime at the Paris Olympics to secure the 3rd place medal as we predicted. Lorenzo will be hoping for a solid result here in New York to secure his place in the top 20. Last year in New York, Musetti lost to Droguet in the first round in five sets.

Best bet

According to the bookies, Musetti is the favorite in this matchup. Lorenzo is a great clay court specialist, but has mostly underperformed on the hard courts so far. However, we are not sure if Opelka is 100% fit for a possible five-set contest. We believe Musetti will be the better player on the court and will easily win this match.

Apart from that, Musetti, covering the match handicap is a worthwhile bet.
