Two children have admitted to luring an 8-year-old boy in Georgia to water-filled pits and drowning him – outraged lawyers argue that the crime was racially motivated.

Noah Bush, 8, was murdered in May when he and his boys walked into a restricted area in Wayne County that was full of extraction pits – huge holes dug so the earth could be filled in elsewhere.

An 11-year-old boy, whose name was not released, admitted in court Wednesday to his involvement in the murder and was sentenced to two years in juvenile detention, WSB-TV reported.

“This 11-year-old admitted under oath that he actually led Noah Bush to the clay pits, pushed him into the water and finally held his head under water until he drowned,” said Francys Johnson, the Bush family’s attorney.

In July, an unnamed 10-year-old boy was sentenced to two years in prison on charges of covering up the death of another person and, in the Bush case, trespassing.

“My baby was 8 years old and had his whole life ahead of him,” said Demetrice Bush, Noah’s mother. “And two years is what the state of Georgia calls justice for an entire life lost.”

“For me there is no peace, no comfort, no closure. I will have to live with this for the rest of my life.”

Under Georgia law, a juvenile can be sentenced to a maximum of two years in prison.

Bush had been missing since May 15 and his body was found in the extraction pits a day later, WJCL reported.

The police initially stated that there was no suspicion of third-party negligence and that the eight-year-old had taken off his shoes, wandered around the prohibited zone and climbed into deeper water, where he drowned.

However, the family hired the law firm Davis Bozeman Johnson to investigate the second-grader’s death and charges were filed against the two children in July.

The two boys were each sentenced to two years in prison for luring Bush (pictured) to the pits and then drowning him.

Bush was last seen in May when he and two other boys went into a restricted area in Wayne County that was full of extraction pits.

Attorneys for the Bush family have vowed to continue to seek justice and are convinced that the crime was racially motivated.

“There are people who think like that. They fly flags in their yards, they put up signs, they log on to Facebook. They do it in front of their children, as if their children wouldn’t just see it. That’s the consequence of not standing up against hate,” Johnson said.

The 11-year-old’s mother, Natalie Hardison, reportedly attended Wednesday’s sentencing virtually because she is in prison.

According to WJCL, she was arrested in July for making false statements during the investigation into Noah’s death.

“This is not the end,” said Mawuli Mel Davis, founding partner of the Davis Bozeman Johnson Law Group.

“The adults involved who helped mislead this family must also be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
