To make Dubai’s roads safer on the first day of school, authorities have called on drivers to strictly adhere to traffic laws and regulations on August 26 as part of the “One Day Without Accidents” campaign.

Brigadier General Jumaa bin Suwaidan, Deputy Director of the Traffic Authority, said the campaign “is also in line with Dubai Police’s vision for a safe city. This involves conducting awareness campaigns and traffic initiatives aimed at ensuring the highest level of safety for all road users and encouraging drivers to diligently follow instructions and safety guidelines.”

Drivers were asked to obey speed limits, especially around schools, avoid distractions caused by mobile phone use, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, give way to pedestrians when crossing the road and yield to emergency vehicles.

He also said that with the “A Day Without Accidents” campaign, the police want to raise traffic awareness among the population and encourage them to follow traffic instructions on the first day of school.

“By signing the initiative, participants pledge not to commit any traffic violations or accidents on the first day of school. Those who complete the day successfully and without incident will receive a traffic certificate and the opportunity to remove four black points from their driving license. They can register and participate in the campaign through the official website of the Ministry of Interior (https://portal.moi.gov.ae/eservices/direct?scode=716&c=1),” he added.
