According to county health officials, several beaches in San Diego County were closed to swimmers and surfers on Sunday due to high bacteria levels.

Due to bacterial levels exceeding health standards, water contact bans have been imposed at the following locations:

• Silver Strand Shoreline, seashore from North Carnation to South Avenida Lunar
• Imperial Beach Shorelines, seashore from the southern end of Seacoast Drive to north of Carnation Avenue
• Tijuana Slough Shoreline, seashore of the US-Mexico border, including Border Field State Park and the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge

In addition, water contact warnings have been issued for the following locations because bacteria levels exceeded health standards:

• La Jolla, children’s pool
• Mission Bay, North Cove
• Coronado, Avenida Lunar
• San Diego Bay, Coronado – Tidelands Park shoreline
• Vacation Isle, 150 feet on each side of the south drain
• Del Mar, outlet of the San Dieguito River – 150′ North and South
