Sherwood season 2 episode 1 cast: Who is returning for the BBC drama? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Sherwood returns, but who will make his second comeback and who will join the squad?

The BBC drama has been off the air for more than two years, but the second season is set to premiere this weekend, Sunday 25 August at 9pm on BBC One.

The upcoming season will find out where the original stars are now, and will also introduce some new and potentially dangerous faces.

Who stars in season 2 of Sherwood?

Ian St Clair – David Morrissey

Lead actor Ian St. Clair is back, but no longer works as a detective, but as the region’s new “anti-violence czar” and is put to the test after a deadly attack.

Actor David Morrissey has appeared in numerous series, including “The Walking Dead,” “The Queen’s Sister,” “Britannia,” “The Long Shadow,” and the first season of “Sherwood.”

Julie Jackson – Lesley Manville

Actress Lesley Manville played Princess Margaret in seasons five and six of “The Crown,” Cynthia in the Amy Winehouse biopic “Back To Black,” and Robina Chase in “World On Fire.”

Once again, Manville is behind the widowed Julie Jackson, whose husband Gary was murdered in the first season.

Ryan Bottomley – Oliver Huntingdon

Drug dealer Ryan Bottomley will be at the center of one of the biggest storylines this time around after he carries out a “fatal attack” that puts his entire family in danger.

Actor Oliver Huntingdon has had roles in The Rising, Happy Valley, The End Of The F****g World and Silent Witness.

Daphne Sparrow – Lorraine Ashbourne

Julie’s estranged sister and fearsome matriarch of the Sparrow family, Daphne Sparrow, is back.

Actress Lorraine Ashbourne’s most recent roles include “After The Flood,” “Bridgerton,” “I Hate Suzie,” and “Extraordinary.”

Mickey Sparrow – Philip Jackson

Her husband Mickey Sparrow is played by actor Philip Jackson, who played Chief Inspector Japp in Agatha Christie’s Poirot, Abbot Hugo in Robin of Sherwood and Melvin “Dylan” Bottomley in Porridge.

Ronan Sparrow – Bill Jones

Ronan Sparrow, one of Daphne and Mickey’s sons, finds himself in a difficult situation this time.

He is played by actor Bill Jones, who has only appeared in a handful of series so far, including the first season of Sherwood, Doctors, The Village and Casualty.

Rory Sparrow – Perry Fitzpatrick

Ronan’s sibling Rory Sparrow is played by actor Perry Fitzpatrick, who played Flip in “This Is England” in 1986 and 1990 and DS Chris Lomax in “Line Of Duty”.

Ann Branson-Monica Dolan

Daphne may have found her match in newcomer Ann Branson, the matriarch of a crime family who begins to target Ryan Bottomley’s relatives after his attack.

Actress Monica Dolan will be known for W1A, Inside No. 9, Mr Bates vs The Post Office, Black Mirror and The Change, among others.

Pam Bottomley – Sharlene Whyte

Pam is the stepmother of Ryan Bottomley, who is now in danger because of his actions.

Actress Sharlene Whyte will be remembered for her role as Jenny Edwards in The Story of Tracy Beaker, but has since appeared in shows such as We Hunt Together and Lockwood and Co.

Dennis Bottomley – David Harewood

Pam’s supportive brother Dennis Bottomley is played by David Harewood, who was behind CIA counterterrorism director David Estes in Homeland.
