What happened in Dead Dead Demon Episode 13, “Dededede Destruction”?

Produced by Production +h.; Directed by Tomoyuki Kurokawa

In Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction Episode No. 13, Futaba confessed to Oran that SHIP wanted her to participate in a violent protest during the opening of the new stadiumand she gave Oran her gun so she would have an excuse not to participate. While Oran agreed to help, she also told Futaba that it wouldn’t make up for her involvement in everything and that she needed to make a real change, but Futaba left the trip with no clear indication of what she would do.

The next day, Oba woke up to find that Oran was missing. Uncharacteristically, he told Makoto that he was afraid that Oran had regained her memories. To make Makoto understand what he was talking about, Oba used the memory device to show Makoto everything from the flashback, and the story eventually continued with Kadode’s suicide. In the aftermath, Oran fell into a state of constant depression, but because he felt sorry for her, Isobeyan told Oran that she could use some kind of time machine to send her consciousness to another timeline and save Kadode.

Oran awoke in the timeline with no memory of her past life, but everything she had been through still affected her on a subconscious level, and so Oran adopted her eccentric personality to befriend Kadode earlier and keep the two away from the study trip; the change of events kept Kadode alive, but that meant they could never meet Isobeyan and teach him about humanity, meaning that Oran was essentially responsible for the events of the Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction Anime series.

Back in the present, Oba and Makoto found Oran at the abandoned spaceship, where she was secretly preparing to throw away Futaba’s weapon, and it didn’t take long for Oba to conclude that Oran still hadn’t regained her memories. Oba asked if Oran had ever thought about leaving her, and when Oran said that she just wanted to stay with everyone, Oba, overcome with joy, kissed her in front of everyone. It was a heartwarming moment at the end of the episode, and it was contrasted by a note that said: Humanity will perish in five days.
