A thief lost his life when a heavy storage rack fell on him during a burglary attempt in Yellareddyguda, Telangana on Sunday. The incident took place around 3:30 am near a fast food stall adjacent to Agra Sweet House.

According to initial reports from Madhuranagar police, the identity of the victim is still unknown. Video footage shows that the man was forcibly trying to break into a storage unit outside the food stall when the shelf suddenly collapsed, crushing him under his weight.

Locals discovered the body around 6:00 a.m. and immediately alerted the authorities. Police arrived promptly, cordoned off the area and began an investigation.

“We believe that the person was trying to steal something from the storage unit when the shelf collapsed,” said Inspector Ramesh Kumar of Madhuranagar police station.

“The footage clearly shows that the frame was unstable, which likely contributed to this tragic incident. We are thoroughly investigating all possible aspects, including any structural issues with the unit,” he added.

Police have secured the video footage as evidence and are working to determine the victim’s identity.
