Family asks for answers in Tina Snipes case, last seen 6 years ago

It’s been six years since Tina Snipes was last seen, and Edisto Island apparently disappeared under what Charleston County officials are calling “suspicious circumstances.”

Snipes’ sister Lisa Lott still misses her “little sister.”

“At one point she was my best friend,” Lott said. “My sister’s family, you know, she was just a special person to me.”

Lott remembers the last time she saw her younger sister.

“She came to visit around Christmas time and then went back to South Carolina. We talked on the phone and texted,” Lott said. “And the last time I heard from her, it was about seven days that I didn’t get a text. And I started texting her and calling her, but never got a response.”

Lott also remembers the day she learned Snipes was missing.

“One Sunday I came home from church and got a message on Facebook Messenger from a girl in South Carolina saying she was sorry for what happened to my sister,” Lott said.

“And I thought to myself: What do you mean, what happened to my sister? She’s missing. And she sent me the news, the news update. And I was really, really shocked. I couldn’t believe it. You know who thinks something like that could happen to you? That someone you love and adore just disappears?”

That was in 2018 and Snipes still hasn’t been found.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said she was last seen at the Horizon EZ Shop on Highway 174.

“So one day we’ll definitely get answers,” Lott said. “I hope, you know, more than justice. I want justice for her if she was murdered. But more than justice, I want closure.”

“I need answers. I need to know where my sister is so we can have closure, so I can lie down at night and know where she is. But not knowing is terrible. And I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Barry Goldstein at 843-554-2241 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
