Michelle Rodriguez is ready to pass the baton of Fast and Furious

Michelle Rodriguez is ready to pass the baton in the “Fast and Furious” franchise.

The 44-year-old actress has played Letty Ortiz since the original film in the high-speed series in 2001, but is ready to take a back seat in developing future stories as the new film “Fast X” marks the beginning of the saga’s finale.

Michelle told Variety: “You pass the baton, you sit in the back seat, you sit in the passenger side, you do all these things.”

“When it comes to the next generation, you have to (sit in the passenger seat) because that’s the only way to let them determine the future.”

Fast X marks the beginning of a two-part conclusion to the series, although Vin Diesel recently hinted that it could actually be a trilogy, and Michelle wasn’t surprised by her co-star’s suggestion.

When asked when she found out about the possible third film, the “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” actress said: “On tour. To be completely honest, he (Diesel) is like that, he always does things like that, but on tour we found out.”

Michelle recently said that the lucrative “Fast and Furious” franchise could go in many different directions.

She told The Hollywood Reporter: “Right now, it’s literally all the opportunities that are coming up, all the seeds that have been planted over the years that have now grown into trees.

“Now it’s time to prune. We are in the middle of the pruning process. All ideas are flying by and all input is being incorporated.”
