What is the story

A 27-year-old Indian from Telangana and his Sudanese colleague tragically died in the Rub al-Khali desert in Saudi Arabia due to severe dehydration and exhaustion.

The deceased, Mohammad Shehzad Khan, was employed by a telecommunications company in the country for three years.

GPS failure and rough conditions led to the tragedy

The duo was busy at work when they found themselves stranded in the Empty Quarter of the desert, considered one of the most dangerous regions in the world.

The situation worsened when Khan’s mobile phone battery ran out and they were unable to call for help.

Their vehicle also ran out of fuel, leaving them without food or water in the extreme heat of the desert.

Bodies discovered four days after tragic incident

The Rub al-Khali Desert is notorious for its harsh conditions and stretches for 650 km through the southern regions of Saudi Arabia and into neighboring countries.

During the day temperatures can reach up to 55 degrees Celsius.

The bodies of Khan and his colleague were found in the sand dunes on Thursday, four days after the tragic incident.
