Wonderful weather on the last full weekend of August

A slight increase in mid- to high-level clouds has made the blue skies a little hazy this afternoon, but with high pressure approaching, it has remained mostly dry. The only exception was Route 104 west toward Niagara and Erie County, which saw a few showers during the afternoon. The showers will weaken as they transition into drier air to the east, and may only touch parts of Monroe County.

A weak, slow-moving shortwave low has contributed to increasing cloud cover, but the dry atmosphere has largely prevented any showers from advancing into far western New York. As the high pressure system continues to move in, clouds will largely leave the region Saturday evening. Temperatures will drop to the low 50s to 60s with mostly clear skies.

A second weak surface low will move through the region on Sunday morning. Due to the timing, this phenomenon will not have much of an impact, aside from a slight increase in cloud cover late Sunday morning. Northern parts of New York may see a slight chance of rain, but Rochester will remain dry.

Temperatures will return to between 27 and 30 degrees on Sunday and there will be plenty of sunshine again. Lake water temperatures will be just under 25 degrees, so expect a refreshing dip on the beaches, which should be very busy as the last weekend of August draws to a close. Warmer and increasingly humid air will be expected as the last week of August begins, with temperatures possibly even flirting with 32 degrees again!
