90s girl group fans with “timeless” looks ahead of headliner gig in Newcastle

Some 26 years after hitting the number one spot with their debut single “C’est La Vie,” a certain girl group is headlining a festival in Newcastle this weekend and, according to their fans, they haven’t aged at all.

It was the summer of 1998 when denim-clad quarter-dollars B*Witched went straight to No.1 with their very first release, while the whole Irish population danced their hearts out to C’est La Vie. The group eventually went to No.1 four times in a row with their first four singles, and Rollercoaster, To You I Belong and Blame it on The Weatherman all topped the charts too.

Following this huge success, B*Witched released their second album Awake & Breathe in 1999, which included the top 5 hit Jesse Hold On and also the top 20 single I Shall Be There. The band was eventually dropped by their record label after Awake & Breathe failed to achieve anywhere near the sales of their debut album.

However, since reuniting for The Big Reunion in 2013, B*Witched have been drawing huge crowds at major events such as Prides, Bongos Bingo and nostalgia festivals. And on Saturday they’ll be headlining Newcastle’s Noughty 90s festival, with the line-up also featuring East 17 and Gareth Gates.

Their arrival in Tyneside comes a week after they released an EP of new material, and on Thursday members Adele, Keavy, Sinead and Lindsay recreated a famous photo of themselves from 1998. The before and after shots stunned their fans, especially because the years have been VERY good to them all.

One fan responded, “You all have barely aged!” and another commented, “You still look the same, gorgeous then, gorgeous now.”
