Global girl group KATSEYE emerged from K-Pop artist development techniques

KATSEYE is a groundbreaking global girl group formed using K-pop artist development methods.

The six talented members from all over the world began their journey with fierce competition. Their remarkable rise to fame and sisterhood is featured in the Netflix docuseries Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE.

“We depended on each other a lot in everything, whether it was the lowest lows or the highest highs,” said Sophia, who is from the Philippines.

In addition to Sophia, the group includes Daniela, Lara and Megan from the USA, Manon from Switzerland and Yoonchae from South Korea. Together they make KATSEYE an international sensation!

“We understand each other and no matter how it all turned out, we knew it was a sisterhood that connected us,” Sophia said.

Because they came from different musical backgrounds, not all of the women in the group were equally familiar with K-pop.

“Personally, I learned a lot about K-pop from Sophia. Oh yes, all of us – Sophia for example – were big K-pop fans before Dream Academy. And some of us were new to the K-pop world. So she really taught us a lot,” said Manon.

Lara put it into perspective.

“We are a global group, so we don’t do K-pop, but we are heavily inspired by K-pop and have a lot of respect for K-pop, how it works and the whole process,” she said.

The group has currently released two singles, including “Touch.”

Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE takes you behind the scenes of the years-long journey to form this unique girl group. Selected from over 120,000 entries from around the world, these young women represent a mix of diverse backgrounds and exceptional talent.
