VT’s view: August 24, 2024

1) Vikings sign new WR, cut two players: Team building is a never-ending business, at least according to Minnesota Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. The offseason is coming to an end, and yet there is still a lot of work to be done to improve the Vikings’ roster. The GM isn’t perfect, folks, but he’s thorough and hard-working.

2) Tom Brady rumors flare up with Vikings: That’s not going to happen. If it does, I’d be shocked. The crazy thing is, Brady could probably succeed in Minnesota. Sure, his fastball might have lost some of its momentum, but there are plenty of weapons and nobody knows the position better.

3) Rumor mill sparks connection between Vikings and once-promising quarterback: Do you see a trend? The loss of JJ McCarthy has dampened optimism about the quarterback in Minnesota. The good news is that the Vikings have a certain depth, which means they can weather the crisis better than many other teams.

4) Vikings sign old friend to OL: With injuries and plans to rest several players, the team needs some more depth and options heading into the final preseason game. Bringing back someone with at least some familiarity makes sense. Hopefully the young man can produce something positive on film, because the game on the field is the resume in the NFL.

5) Former Viking out for rest of season… vs. Vikings: No doubt this is an unfortunate development for Hakeem Adeniji. The good news is simply that he is young enough to bounce back. Ideally, the OT migrant will soon be back to 100% and able to continue his NFL career.
