Watch: MR. BIG plays last concert of his farewell tour in Romania

MR BIG played the last show of his “The BIG Finale” Farewell tour on Friday, August 23rd in The Way Too Far Rock Festival 2024. Bistrita, Romania.

After the concert MR BIG Bassist Billy Sheehan took to his social media to share a picture from the performance and added the following message: “Romania!!! The audience was a bit small but they made up for it with their enthusiasm! The last MR BIG Show (not MY last show, damn it!!)

“What a great run we’ve had since 1988. We’ve made great memories and millions (literally) of friends around the world. My boundless love and respect goes out to everyone who listened, watched, bought records, tickets and t-shirts – we would have been nothing without you. Fact. We’re moving on to other adventures now, but we’ll never forget this incredible experience.”

guitarist Paul Gilbert added: “What an adventure! MR BIG wraps up over a year of touring! Thank you to EVERYONE! I will be home in time for my son’s 10th birthday. I hope he remembers who I am! And a special thanks to Ibanez Guitars because they gave me beautiful instruments after my touring guitars were stolen.”

drummer Nick D’Virgiliowho joined MR BIG in 2023 as a replacement for the late Patrick Torpeycommented: “It’s been an incredible run with @billysheehanonbass @paulgilbert_official and @iamericmartin. I’ve been able to rock with the guys all over the world and I will be forever grateful. Big love to MR BIG!”

In a recent interview with Joe Rock of the rock station 102.3 WBAB on Long Island, MR BIG Frontman Eric Martin admitted that he had heard the announcement that the group “The BIG Finale” The farewell tour would actually have been the last time he and his bandmates toured together. He said: “Now that we all get along perfectly and the band is so super tight, I wonder why we’re dissolving our partnership? I’m thinking about it now. I hope we make more records, but I understand it. Paul probably don’t want to tour as much anymore, just like me. We’ve been on this road trip for a year. I don’t want to do any really long tours. I’m not 30 anymore. I’m not even 40 anymore. I’m not even 50 anymore.”

Eric continued: “I love it when people say, ‘Oh, what about THE ROLLING STONES? Yes, what about THE ROLLING STONES? They are super rich. They play one gig a week and fly in and stay in five-star hotels. They are a little older now and still rock, but I think Mick Jagger is carried onto the stage. Come on.”

When asked whether he and his MR BIG Bandmates have considered doing some kind of residency at some point, Eric said, “Well, I would. I would. I know we all agree that – I hope there’s a one-off thing here and there, but after August 23rd, that’s all she wrote. And we’re going to stick to our opinion – attempt to stick to our views. I hope we do another show or two. It’s funny that you say “residency” because our drummer, our new drummer, Nick D’Virgiliothat’s been his idea lately, we should do a residency – in Japan, for heaven’s sake. We could do that. Las Vegas, move aside Elton (John) And Celine Dionand we could maybe come in off the Strip and stay a month or a couple of weeks a year. That would be – in my father’s immortal words – awesome.”

MR BIGtenth studio album, “Ten”was published on July 12th via Frontiers Music SrlThe LP contains 11 new original tracks by Martin And Gilberttogether with André Pessis And Tony Fanucci. “Ten” was produced by Jay Ruston And MR BIG.
