Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) has officially lifted the boil water advisory for residents and businesses in the West Bayou Parkway area. The advisory, which was issued as a precautionary measure following a water main burst earlier this week, is no longer in effect.

LUS, in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Health, collected and tested water samples from the affected area. These samples have now been released and confirm that the water is safe for consumption and normal use.

As a safety measure, LUS recommends that customers in the affected areas take the following steps after the alert is lifted:

– Discard the next three portions of ice from your ice machines to ensure that all potentially contaminated water is removed.
– Run your empty dishwasher once on the hottest or disinfection setting to remove any remaining contaminants.
– Unscrew the faucet aeratorLet the water run for 5 minutes, then clean and reinstall the aerator to ensure clean, fresh water flows from your faucets.
