Brighton continued their perfect start to the season with a dramatic 95th-minute winner from João Pedro to secure a 2-1 victory over Manchester United.

United thought they had the win in the bag when Alejandro Garnacho converted a low pass from Bruno Fernandes with 18 minutes left.

However, after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed. The VAR concluded that the ball had been deflected by substitute Joshua Zirkzee shortly before crossing the goal line and therefore an offside decision was made.

This left the door open for João Pedro to decide the game for Brighton. Pedro took advantage of Simon Adingra’s well-placed cross at the far post to score the decisive goal and give new Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler a dream start.
