Novak Djokovic to increase his Grand Slam record before his retirement

Novak Djokovic to increase his Grand Slam record before his retirement

Former Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander believes Novak Djokovic has won many more major trophies after fulfilling his Olympic dream.

In Paris, Djokovic won all the major titles of his career and, thanks to his gold medal career, won both the Career Super Slam and the Career Golden Masters.

Wilander believes Djokovic’s mental acuity remains his greatest asset, which he demonstrated by winning Olympic gold on his least favorite surface.

The Swede praised the alleged GOAT for his performance in Paris at what most believe will be his last Olympic Games.

However, he added that the Serb would likely add one or two more Grand Slam titles to his collection.

Wilander believes that the rise of young players winning Grand Slams will only inspire Djokovic to respond and that he can improve and win more Majors.

“I was very excited,” Wilander said about the triumph in Paris, according to We love tennis.

“I was very surprised that he was able to win the Olympics despite the pressure.

“It was his last Olympic Games and he did it on the surface that he perhaps likes least.

“But he is not finished yet, and I said that at Wimbledon. I think he will win one, two or even three more Grand Slams.

“And that will give him the energy to keep fighting because he likes the challenge that the young players offer him.”

The 7 men with the most US Open titles: Roger Federer is joint 1st, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are tied with 4

Djokovic has won a record 72 major titles, including an all-time record 24 Grand Slam titles. He is the tennis player who has spent the most weeks at No. 1, has the most wins over players ranked in the top five and top ten, has won every Major and Masters event and the year-end championship at least twice (something no other player has accomplished), and has a positive head-to-head record against his biggest rivals during one of tennis’s most powerful eras.

If Djokovic fails to win the US Open this season, it will be the first time since 2017 that he has failed to win a Grand Slam title in a calendar year. Before that unsuccessful season, he had won at least one Grand Slam title every year for six seasons and could now repeat that with his current streak.

The reigning Olympic champion has won the US Open four times and reached his first ever Grand Slam final in New York, where he lost to Roger Federer. His first US Open victory came in 2011, when he defeated Rafael Nadal in four sets. He has reached the US Open final ten times, but his six final losses represent a somewhat undesirable record for most defeats at this stage.
