Food court could get a second floor according to new plans

Plans have been submitted to expand a popular food court in Leeds city centre.

Proposals for Trinity Kitchen include the addition of a second floor, including a terrace overlooking City Square.

A spokesman for Trinity Leeds’ owner, Landsec, said work was expected to begin in spring 2025 if plans were approved by Leeds City Council.

Centre manager Steven Foster said the development would “enhance and expand the space over the long term and create a world-class dining and leisure destination”.

This would also create more jobs and bring new brands to the center, which would “improve the guest experience,” said the Landec spokesman.

When asked by the BBC, the spokesman could not confirm how many jobs could be created.

They said the development would transform 1,390 square metres of currently unused space above the food court.

Trinity Kitchen, which opened in 2013, currently welcomes 800,000 guests each year, the spokesperson added.

There are six permanent traders and five temporary food stalls that rotate here.

Almost 300 independent companies have received concessions there since the opening, the spokesman said.
