Eagles could sign former Cowboy to give defense more star power

The Philadelphia Eagles already have a full roster, but that doesn’t mean they’re finished.

Philadelphia is clearly banking on the 2024 season and recently completed an intra-division trade to sign former first-round draft pick Jahan Dotson as the team’s third receiver. The Eagles still have plenty of salary cap space and could add even more talent to the roster if needed.

If the Eagles want to take another step, there is one player they should consider signing: former Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers defensive end/linebacker Randy Gregory.

He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the offseason, but failed to report and was recently released. Gregory is now a free agent again and is looking for a new home. Philadelphia could provide that.

The Eagles know Gregory well, as he spent the first five seasons of his career in the division as a member of the Cowboys. He had the best part of his career as a member of the Cowboys, but he’s only 31 years old, so he certainly has a lot of good football ahead of him.

Philadelphia doesn’t have any obvious weaknesses right now, but it never hurts to have a surplus of talented pass rushers. Gregory definitely fits that description and could probably be acquired cheaply now that everything has just gone wrong for Tampa Bay. Philadelphia should consider moving on.
