Fast X’s Jason Momoa is surprised by the stunts they made him do

As the theatrical release of “Fast X” draws ever closer, Jason Momoa has revealed that he performed many of the adrenaline-fueled stunts himself.

Momoa joins the Fast & Furious franchise as Dante, the son of Hernan Reyes who appeared in Fast 5. The villain is on a vengeful mission to bring down Dom’s family.

In an exclusive interview with Digital SpyMomoa shared his surprise at how much effort he had to put into the role, as far as the stunts themselves were concerned.

The “Aquaman” star explained: “I’ve never had the opportunity to film in Italy. I love Rome and I can ride my motorbike around Rome without a helmet and do all this illegal stuff. There are cops everywhere watching and I just do the biggest ‘sh*t you’re not allowed to do’.”

“I had an incredible stuntman in Joe who did some really crazy stunts and the rest, driving through the city at that speed…

“I think one of the producers was like, ‘Wow, Jason’s double is incredible, I don’t know how we got her,’ and they were like, ‘That’s Momoa.’

“I’m pretty happy they let me do it, but even in those moments I thought, ‘Wow, they let me do that?'”

However, due to the high risk of the intense action sequences, some stunts were left to the professionals.

Momoa continued, “There are moments when I wish I could go up those stairs like he did, but the truth is you’re going to hurt the other stuntman, and if anything goes wrong, millions and millions of dollars are ruined because I’m in the hospital.

“I can do the driving part, that’s pretty vague. These roads are slippery, these cobblestone roads have been driven on for centuries, and when you stop, you don’t stop if it rains a little bit. You slip, it’s ice.”

Fast X will be in theaters on May 19th.
