Season 6 of The Drew Barrymore Show renewed: Everything we know so far

The popular CBS daytime talk show hosted by Drew Barrymore has a foreseeable future. News about season 6 is reportedly already popping up everywhere ahead of season 5, which premieres on September 9, 2024. The Drew Barrymore Show had a rocky start but gradually became everyone’s favorite talk show. It became so popular that CBS is now looking to renew it season after season.

The show premiered in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, so it was not possible at first because it was not possible to gather live viewers, although these types of shows are successful and popular. Instead, a screen was displayed with images of the “audience from everywhere.” The show’s creators also could not always bring guests in physical form. Sometimes the guests appeared virtually, sometimes they came in person but sat opposite the host to comply with the restrictions.

However, The Drew Barrymore Show slowly grew and gained more viewers. Today, it is one of the most popular talk shows. According to Variety, the show has been renewed for a sixth season, and this report came well before the launch of season 5. The show is hosted by Drew Barrymore, the actress is in the second year of her career. The show also airs longer in several top 20 markets, including the 9-hour block broadcast by CBS Mornings in New York, Dallas and Boston.

Wendy McMahon, President and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Ventures, spoke about the renewal of The Drew Barrymore Show. Wendy said, “Drew is a unique talent and an integral part of the CBS and Paramount family. This early renewal and upgrades are a testament to our commitment to The Drew Barrymore Show and its loyal audience who tune in every day to experience Drew’s warmth, curiosity and spontaneity.”

Since the second season, the show has gained traction with audiences and the modification in the third season helped to allow for more interaction with the entire studio audience. The show was divided into two half-hour segments – one covered pop culture and lifestyle stories while the other half focused on celebrity guests and their interviews. From Keanu Reeves to Bella Hadid and other celebs have appeared on the show so far.

However, in 2023, the series faced a lot of controversy when it resumed production with the writers amid the Writers Guild of America strike. However, to protect themselves from further backlash, they extended their hiatus and kept the strike going until the writers’ strike was over.

Well, all in all, the series has quite a huge fan base and the renewal of seasons 5 and 6 is quite good news for the fans. Let us know what you think about it.
