McDonald’s Happy Meals collectible cups for adults are being resold online

Online retailers like eBay and Mercari are joining McDonald’s in offering new nostalgic collectible cups included in the chain’s new Collector’s Meals, also known as Happy Meals for adults.

It’s been less than a week since McDonald’s started selling adult Happy Meals in collectible cups, and already the drinkware has become a hot commodity on third-party e-commerce platforms.

Online listings for the collectible cups, which officially appeared on Tuesday as part of McDonald’s new Collector’s Meal, have already appeared on sites like eBay and Mercari. Prices of the resold cups vary, ranging from $15 to $100. Some sellers are even offering complete sets for as much as $125.

While the collector’s cups may still be available with a McDonald’s Collector’s Meal, it’s not clear which cup you’ll get, or how difficult it is to get all six, and the offer is only available at McDonald’s for a limited time.

McDonald’s collectible cups available online, without food

You can snag a collectible cup without ever setting foot in McDonald’s, but be warned: an adult Happy Meal is not included in your purchase.

And chances are that the mug you want, whether it’s Barbie or Shrek, isn’t available for purchase. Not to mention the fact that the mugs range in price from $15 to $100.

McDonald’s was inspired by the design of the past

McDonald’s latest offering makes customers think and invites them to travel back in time to a time when toys like the Cowpoke McNugget Buddy, Dragster or the Hello Kitty keychain could brighten their day.

These souvenirs have been “at the heart of the fans’ experiences,” according to the fast-food chain. The latest cup sake line is a twist on the classics and gives customers “a memory they can hold in their hand,” company CEO Morgan Flatley said in a press release.

“These new collectible mugs commemorate some of our most memorable designs and global collaborations over the years, allowing longtime fans to relive precious moments and helping a new generation create their own lasting memories,” said Flatley.

Options for Collector’s Meal Cups include:

  • McDonald’s
  • Coca-Cola
  • Hello Kitty and Peanuts
  • Beanie Babies
  • Barbie and Hot Wheels
  • Shrek, Jurassic Park and Minions

The cup is free with the purchase of a Collector’s Meal, which includes a starter, a side dish and a drink. The selection varies depending on the time of day.
