Angel Reese achieves performance that Shaq last achieved

Angel Reese is in the midst of a phenomenal rookie season. It seems as though she is breaking records in almost every game. Reese had a particularly impressive performance on Friday night against the Connecticut Sun: According to Yahoo Sports, she became the first rookie since Shaquille O’Neal to record two consecutive games with 20 rebounds.

The Sun lost a hard-fought game 82-80. Nevertheless, Reese played well. In addition to her 20 rebounds, the Sky star had 13 points, three assists and two blocks. Reese received support from her teammates Chennedy Carter (19 points, six rebounds) and Kamilla Cardodo (18 points, six rebounds). However, it was Reese who made headlines with her historic performance.

Chicago’s record dropped to 11-17 with the loss. They are now 13.5 games behind the Eastern Conference leader New York Liberty. The Sky are in fourth place in the conference, also behind the Sun and Indiana Fever.

However, Reese and the Sky still have a chance to reach the postseason. Chicago will need to bounce back soon to avoid another drop in the standings, but given the team’s depth, there is reason for optimism.

Sure, Reese, Carter and Cardoso have impressed, but when Chicago wins games they usually get impressive performances from their supporting cast. The Sky undoubtedly benefit from putting together an all-around good team effort.

Things won’t get any easier on Sunday, as the Sky face the Las Vegas Aces, kicking off at 12pm EST in Chicago.
