Coca-Cola United presented Alabama State University with a check for $150,000 to benefit ASU students. Accepting the gift on behalf of the university were ASU President Dr. Quinton T. Ross, Jr. and Colonel (ret.) Gregory Clark, ASU vice president for institutional advancement and executive director of the ASU Foundation.

Representatives from Coca-Cola United came to campus on August 20 to present the check. The Birmingham-based company is the third-largest bottler of Coca-Cola products in the United States.

Clark explained that Coca-Cola United’s generosity is part of an ongoing partnership with O’ Mother Dear and a result of President Ross’s leadership.

“ASU is pleased and grateful that Coca-Cola United, on behalf of the university, presented President Ross with a check for $150,000 as part of its annual donation to Alabama State. The amount will benefit our Hornet Athletic Program, student academic scholarships and other student initiatives,” Clark said from the President’s Conference Room where the presentation took place.

Clark also explained how important the gift is to Alabama State University.

“It is refreshing that Coca-Cola United has been working with ASU for many years, and we are certainly grateful for their commitment to student success at ASU, which directly impacts our greatest asset – our students,” Clark said. “Their $150,000 donation will help our students matriculate, inspire them to achieve athletic success in areas such as football and track, and generally help them succeed in school and in life.”

Founded in 1902, Coca Cola United employs 10,000 people in the southeastern United States and is involved in the manufacture, marketing, sale and distribution of some of the world’s most refreshing and well-known beverages.
