To find the real Kamala Harris, look at her last campaign

Who is Kamala Harris?

What does she think?

That’s hard to say.

She does not answer questions from reporters.

Instead, she reads from the teleprompter and repeats the same speech.

So now that she has the nomination, let’s take a look at who Harris really is.

She likes spending other people’s money.

While the Biden administration drove America further into debt, Vice President Harris voted by a casting vote to issue more.

In the last election, my team compared the candidates’ spending proposals.

We were surprised that the biggest spending plans came from Harris.

Trump proposed $267 billion in additional spending. Biden proposed $297 billion.

Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders wanted to spend an incredible $3.976 trillion.

But Harris was even worse! $4.162 trillion in new spending.

Biden’s high spending triggered severe inflation.

One can imagine how much prices would have risen if the Democrats had elected Harris back then.

Last week, in her first policy speech, she proposed $1.7 trillion in new spending.

At least that’s not as bad as what she wanted during the COVID pandemic: She thought the government should pay every American $2,000 a month.

That would have cost taxpayers $21 trillion!

Their love for a great state dominates their thinking.

A few years ago, she advocated abolishing private health insurance and having it taken over entirely by the state.

Now her campaign team says she “no longer supports a (solely state-run) health care system.”

Who is the real Kamala Harris?

In 2019, she said she wanted to ban fracking.

Now that Harris needs votes in Pennsylvania, where fracking creates jobs, her campaign’s claims that she will not ban fracking and Republicans’ claims that she would are “false … a blatant attempt to distract.”

But what is wrong?

She told CNN: “I am in favor of a ban on fracking.”

She also wanted to force gun owners to sell their weapons to the state.

Now a Harris spokesman said: “The Vice President would no longer request this.”

She always boasted about being a tough prosecutor and even took pride in “prosecuting parents for truancy.”

But when progressives criticized the harsh policing, she changed her mind.

As people looted and set fires during the George Floyd riots, Harris tweeted: “Help post bail for the protesters.”

Now the pendulum has swung back in policing. Harris is once again bragging about locking people up.

During a 2019 Democratic presidential debate, former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard pointed out her hypocrisy: “She put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana law violations and then laughed it off when asked if she ever smoked marijuana.”

Harris had no answer.

Shortly thereafter, she dropped out of the presidential race.

Today, the traditional media is protecting Harris because they hate Trump so much.

For years, the supposedly “nonpartisan” website GovTrack has ranked senators on a liberal/conservative scale.

They called Harris the most liberal.

But when it looked like Harris would be the nominee, GovTrack deleted the page.

Suddenly they came to the conclusion that they did not have enough data “to paint a reliable picture of the activities of legislators.”

Harris needs this media cover because she says radical things, such as demanding “equality” instead of equality and equal opportunities.

“There is a big difference,” she says in an animated video.

“Equality means that everyone should get the same amount. Equal treatment means that we all end up in the same place.”

Everyone has to land in the same place?

So we even need more state redistribution?

Harris is a pro-government, fickle opportunist.

It is disturbing that the major presidential candidates are a giggling, economically ignorant spendthrift and a crass, self-centered tyrant.

Even Trump supporter Ann Coulter calls him a “terrible, horrible man.”

Although most of his measures would be better than theirs…

The best news is that America’s founding fathers wisely put checks on executive power.

Stupid people often claim that the president “runs the country.”

Fortunately, that is not true.

We, the people, rule the country.

The president heads only one of the three branches of government.

Each of them is designed to prevent the other from exercising tyranny.

The founders wanted limited government because they had seen the damage that oppressive rulers caused.

If our next president has to be Trump or Harris, I’m glad there are limits to their power.
