“Buffalo Freestyle” by Benny the Butcher and Drake has reportedly been removed from streaming

Benny the Butcher and Drake’s long-awaited collaboration, “Buffalo Freestyle,” apparently appeared on streaming services last night, but has since disappeared.

Late Thursday, August 22, the track appeared on several streaming platforms, but strangely not on Apple Music, as part of the Buffalo Butch, Volume 1 EP. Fans on the Reddit channel r/Drizzy noticed the song disappeared from Spotify on Friday, and other streaming services, including YouTube, followed shortly after. The rapper has not commented on the removal of the song, which he first teased back in 2020.

Benny the Butcher revealed that he recorded a collaborative song with Drake in 2020. When asked for an update on the track the following year, he said that they had actually traded songs for each other’s projects. He said there was a chance the song would never come out, knowing how the music industry works, but stressed that he would push for its release whenever it made sense.

More than two years later, he announced that the song was on hold. When asked why the song didn’t happen, he said he wasn’t happy with the situation.

“I was mad, I’m not going to lie. It’s a f***ing Drake record,” he said. “It was my biggest record… It’s a record that’s just in my pocket, but I understand the mechanics of the business.”

Ultimately, he said he didn’t know exactly what happened with the song, but he never held it against Drizzy.

“I definitely didn’t take it as, ‘Damn, he screwed me.’ I swear to God, I didn’t take it as that, because this is Drake, the biggest artist in the world,” Benny said. “Even if he writes to me personally, I know where he stands.”
