Heather Graham would “absolutely love” to be a Bond girl

Heather Graham left us shocked and shaken.

In an exclusive interview with the Washington Post, the actress revealed that she is ready to move up from Felicity Shagwell to a Bond girl.

Graham, who stars in the new film Place of Bones, which opens in cinemas today, Friday 23 August, expressed her excitement to join the 007 franchise when asked about fan sites that suggest the blonde bombshell would be a perfect Bond girl.

“Yes, I would like to do that,” she said. “I mean, I would really like to do that.”

“I just got cast in this movie called ‘They Will Kill You’ and it’s a scary movie, but I have fight scenes with (‘Joke’ and ‘Deadpool 2’ star) Zazie Beetz,” she revealed. “There’s a lot of action. So yeah, I would love to do a movie where I could do more action.”

“I don’t want to give too much away,” she said of the film, which also stars Patricia Arquette and Tom Felton. “But it has a lot of action. I can say that.”

Graham played the famous CIA agent Felicity Shagwell in the 1999 James Bond spoof Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, a role for which she is still known and loved today. Although she has worked in a variety of genres, action films have undoubtedly been her favorite of late.

The foray into more action-packed films was one of the reasons Graham signed on to star in her current film, Place of Bones – a horror/western film about a mother (Graham) and her daughter living on a remote ranch, struggling to survive when a wounded outlaw seeking refuge brings a notorious bank robber and his ruthless gang, desperate to recover a stolen fortune, right to their doorstep.

“I wanted to do more action stuff where you fight,” the actress said of her decision to play a frontier gunslinger who she describes as “wild” and “super intelligent” but also someone with “a lot of flaws.”

She is not a “total hero,” Graham explained.

“I mean, she’s very bitter. She’s very angry. She has a negative attitude towards the outside world and she wants to protect her daughter. I like that she’s complicated. And not just, ‘Oh, she’s the perfect woman.’ I think she’s very crazy, but also incredible.”

“I feel like westerns don’t usually have a female character,” she added. “And that was really something I wanted to do.”

“I just wanted to play a tough character, someone who could just fight – fight the bad guys and outsmart other people. I thought it was a great opportunity.”

In addition to Graham, “Place of Bones,” directed by Audrey Cummings and written by Richard Taylor, stars Tom Hopper, Corin Nemec, Brielle Robillard and Cowboy Cerrone.

The film will be released in selected cinemas and will also be available as a digital version from Friday.
