Chase Elliott comments on the incident with Ryan Blaney in the last round in Michigan

Last week at Michigan, Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney collided on the final lap, costing both drivers points. Elliott and Blaney were on their way to top-10 finishes, maybe even top-5, and instead they ended up P15 and P18, respectively, in the NASCAR race.

The two cars were running 6th and 7th when Chase Elliott collided with Ryan Blaney. It wasn’t a major accident, but it was enough to take the momentum away from them on the final lap and both lost about 10 points.

This week, the two drivers and friends appear to have talked things through. Elliott discussed the situation with Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports.

“Yeah, absolutely. Of course I hate it, I hate that it turned out that way, and I hate that it ruined Ryan’s day too,” Elliott explained. “But we were all huddled in the corner trying to get through it to get a better outcome, you know? Like I told him, I hated it, it certainly wasn’t my intention, and unfortunately it ruined both of our days.”

Chase Elliott admitted that he didn’t think much about the championship during the regular season. He was only concerned with getting the best result.

“I just tried to finish as well as I could,” he continued. “We were about sixth or seventh? Somewhere in between. So I’m not sure if that would have put you in the top five or anything, but of course everything counts when you get to the finish line. I just tried to get the best result I could and I ended up doing a lot worse.”

This is a developing story…
