A California man has been arrested in connection with the killing of the bar manager who died in a fight outside the bar on Tuesday morning.

The victim was a manager of Jameson’s Pub in Santa Monica, California, and he was allegedly attacked while trying to break up a fight outside the pub, local authorities said in a statement.

Santa Monica Police officers responded to a report of an assault early Tuesday morning, June 11, the police department said.

“A fight broke out in the street when the manager of Jameson asked several patrons to leave the establishment,” the statement said.

One of the guests allegedly hit the manager and knocked him unconscious, the statement said.

The manager, whose name is not mentioned in the reports, received life-saving measures from medical personnel on site before being taken to a hospital where he died, the department said.

According to KTLA, the manager was a man in his early fifties.

The three people involved in the fight were arrested, according to the statement. After an investigation, police identified the suspected attacker as 26-year-old Leonard Hector Korpie of Venice, California.

No further information was available on the other two people who were initially arrested. Jameson Pub declined to comment on Friday.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or Korpie to contact Detective Tavera at [email protected] or the 24/7 Watch Commander at 310-458-8427.
