The days when idiots in New Jersey went too far with wild animals

Oh, great. This story made us the laughing stock of the country and needed to be made known nationally.

A Mensa candidate went to the Cohanzick Zoo in Bridgeton and her arm could have been ripped off.

This woman decided to climb over the outer barrier and enter the enclosure where a Bengal tiger lives. She was able to get to the second and final obstacle, a chain-link fence, and immediately thought it would be a good idea to put her hand through, apparently in an attempt to pet the tiger.

The 235 kilogram cat first sniffed, then pounced on its prey and almost caught it.

“A female tiger at the Cohanzick Zoo climbed over the wooden fence of the tiger enclosure and began to lure the tiger by putting her hand through the wire mesh of the enclosure and nearly biting it,” police said in a statement.

This is a whole different kind of stupidity. The police would like to talk to her.

This is far from the first time an idiot has gone too far with a wild animal. Do we need to remind you?

Tiger Lady

She became known as the Tiger Lady of Jackson. Joan Byron-Marasek owned a tiger sanctuary in Ocean County.

One day in 1999, Jackson Police received calls reporting a large tiger wandering the streets. At first they thought it was a prank because it seemed so absurd. They soon realized it was a real tiger and several hours and a lot of manpower and technology were used to track the thing down. The technology used included thermal sensors, night vision devices and a helicopter.

Many initially thought it must have escaped from the nearby Six Flags Great Adventure safari park. As it turned out, authorities believed it was due to improper enclosures at the woman’s sanctuary.

The Good Samaritan

And then there was the madness last year when a baby alligator was reportedly found in an abandoned plastic tub in Neptune. A “good Samaritan” contacted police about the find.

It was a lie.

Oh, there was actually an alligator. But the guy who reported it was friends with the owner, and that guy had been kicked out of his house. The alligator owner turned to his friend for help finding a place to put the alligator, but the friend’s parents wouldn’t let him come into their house. That’s how this ridiculous found alligator story started, but it soon unraveled. Helpful tip: Don’t buy alligators.

The Rap Alligator

Who could forget the famous story of the alligator in the motel pool from 2017?

That summer, Atlantic City police were searching for a man at the Bayview Inn and Suites when they discovered much more. There were drugs. They arrested more than just the man they were looking for.

And there was a huge alligator swimming in the motel’s pool.

It turns out that a music video was being shot for the song “Damn” featuring rapper Sean Temple, known as Style1. Some genius thought it would be funny to include a live alligator in the video and later had it take over the pool at the Bayview Inn and Suites.

Repeat after me, boys and girls: leave dangerous animals alone!
