CLEVELAND, Ohio — Injury-wise, the Browns’ offensive line was arguably the most injured position on the team last season, leading them to finish the season ranked 12th in sacks allowed (45), 18th in pass blocking (65.3) and 21st in run blocking (56.6), according to Pro Football Focus.
Among those rehabbing but not yet appearing on the field this year is left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr., who suffered an MCL injury in Week 9 of last season.
When athletes suffer a season-ending injury, each player may respond differently. Some players may return sooner than expected, while others may be out a little longer than expected.
Wills seemed to be on his way back to form before suffering a season-ending injury.
According to Pro Football Focus, he finished his 2023 season with a 54.5 overall rating in run blocking, a 60.1 overall rating in pass blocking, 21 quarterback hurries, and three sacks allowed.
Before and after the week off in Week 5 of last season, his performance was like night and day. He scored over 75.0 in run blocking in Weeks 6 and 9 and even scored 74.0 in pass blocking in the Week 7 win over Indianapolis.
