“We had a drive-by shooting on Florida Avenue. There were rapid gunfire around midnight, followed what felt like 30 seconds later by a group of police cars racing up behind us. Police have cordoned off Florida between 6th and 7th NW. I’m not sure if anyone told you, but I wanted to let you know.”

“The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in the Northwest.

On Friday, August 23, 2024, at approximately 12:17 a.m., officers were in the area of ​​the 700 block of Florida Avenue, Northwest, when they heard gunshots. When officers arrived on the scene, evidence of a shooting was found, but no victim. A short time later, an adult female was found at a local hospital where she was treated for gunshot wounds. Despite all life-saving measures, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

The deceased was identified as 23-year-old Lou Loni Jordan of Waldorf, MD.

Anyone with knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text their tip to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a murder committed in the District of Columbia.
