Zixi demonstrates cost savings in large-scale IP deployment at IBC

Zixi, the industry leader in cost-effective and highly scalable live broadcast-quality video delivery over any IP network or protocol and provider of the award-winning Software-Defined Video Platform (SDVP), has announced its participation and extensive presence at IBC 2024. From Friday, September 13th to Monday, September 16th, Zixi will be exhibiting at the Amsterdam RAI Convention Center in Hall 5, Stand No. A.85.

The company will showcase features and functionality that will enable broadcasters, OTT providers, sports leagues, regional sports networks and local partners to effortlessly reach global audiences by leveraging the Zixi Enabled Network, which includes over 1,400 media companies and 400 technology partners worldwide. In the current environment of organizational cost reductions and the pursuit of global corporate profitability, this global network facilitates the sharing of live video, accelerates the acquisition of new content, enables innovative business models and creates opportunities to reduce costs and increase revenue.

Zixi will open IBC 2024 as title sponsor of the prestigious Devoncroft Summit. SVP John Wastcoat and CEO Gordon Brooks will speak at the event, which will bring together global industry leaders to discuss the business of media at the Tuschinski Theater in Amsterdam on September 12 at 12pm. On Sunday, September 15 at 10:30 a.m., CEO Gordon Brooks will moderate a panel discussion at the prestigious IBC Showcase Theatre that includes the NHL’s Grant Nodine and Verizon’s Timothy Stevens. The panel will discuss how Zixi and Verizon are working together to deliver NHL content over 5G networks, dramatically reducing costs for broadcasters and simplifying complex cloud-based video workflows for a variety of production needs.

At the booth, Zixi will showcase its latest developments, including:

  • Analysis of the total cost of ownership (TCO) of large-scale IP delivery applications compared to other alternatives in the industry, taking into account the latest efficiency developments in the compute and bandwidth requirements of the Zixi protocol and SDVP.
  • Market Switching enables content distributors to switch content on an ESAM/ESNI basis to regionalize or hide content, enabling traditional workflows in IP workflows.
  • High-performance networking uses DPDK to achieve significant improvements in throughput efficiency while using only a fraction of the processing power.
  • DPDK-based security to protect against ransomware loopholes and operating systems as easy targets by bypassing the kernel or operating system level, enabling secure DMZ segmentation and private network management.
  • Dynamic Latency to optimize live IP video based on real-time network conditions for ultra-low latency delivery and an improved user experience.
  • Error concealment replaces faulty video frames with skipped frames while keeping the audio data synchronized. This helps overcome situations where unrecoverable packet loss in input streams corrupts video frames
  • Timeline Normalization repairs timelines in the transport stream that were created by upstream encoding and processing and may not have clean timelines. This feature helps IRDs that are sensitive to timeline issues and greatly improves stream ingestion.
  • Smooth Live Midroll Insertion allows you to insert a fixed length ad or slate or blackout directly into the live stream output.
  • Dynamic HTML overlays will be demonstrated to demonstrate how they enable a seamless transition to the cloud without the need for additional on-premises hardware for these processes.

An exciting and diverse group of partners from the Zixi Enabled Network ecosystem will demonstrate their integrated Zixi offerings in the Partner Village:

  • Blackbird will showcase its cloud-native video editing and publishing platform for remote production workflows, enabling content producers to perform live edits and instantly publish natively via the Zixi Enabled Network.
  • Encompass will showcase Altitude Media Cloud, a cloud-native, high-performance, flexible and scalable platform for channel aggregation, encoding, content packaging and playout for streaming and OTT platforms.
  • Red5 demonstrates how users can leverage WebRTC and its real-time streaming platform to deliver content to millions of people in milliseconds, leveraging the reach of the global Zixi Enabled Network.
  • Streann Media introduces the Zixi-enabled OTT platform, which provides content providers with innovative tools for creation, distribution, engagement and monetization to deliver the ultimate experience to the end user.
  • Wowza will showcase its real-time streaming platform that supports cloud, private cloud and hybrid streaming, enabling broadcasters to reach and grow their audiences with cost-effective streaming workflows.
  • “Zixi will demonstrate our latest efficiency developments that provide our customers with ultra-scalability while maintaining the lowest total cost of ownership in the market,” said Gordon Brooks, CEO of Zixi. “We invite our customers to ‘do the math’ with us to truly understand the tremendous cost savings that enable them to achieve more for less.”
