AURORA, Colorado (KKTV) – A man pointed a gun at a Burger King employee when the employee refused to allow him to pay for his order with drugs, prosecutors said.

On October 17, 2022, around 11 p.m., 40-year-old Eugene Robertson arrived at Burger King on S. Buckley Road in Aurora. He stopped at the window and attempted to pay for his meal with drugs.

The prosecutor said that when the employee refused this form of “payment,” Robertson pulled out a gun, pointed it at the employee and then drove away.

He then drove to a supermarket across the street from Burger King and pointed a gun at an employee’s head. The prosecutor said when Robertson noticed a surveillance system, he shot at the television and left the store.

According to the prosecutor, he shot two more people in the parking lot before driving away.

Aurora police received another call that same evening from someone who knew Robertson, saying Robertson refused to leave her apartment door and fired shots when she wouldn’t let him in.

The prosecutor said they found Robertson trying to hide behind some bushes and took him into custody.

Robertson was sentenced to 143 years in prison for eight counts of attempted murder, four counts of menacing, unlawful discharge of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, harassment and two counts of reckless endangerment.

“The Aurora Police Department responded quickly, reconstructed multiple crime scenes and quickly identified a suspect,” said District Attorney John Kellner. “I hope this 100-year prison sentence serves as a warning that my prosecutors and I will not tolerate violent crime in our community.”
