The husband of a missing Virginia woman told police he last saw her three weeks ago at dinner.

Now he is accused of concealing a corpse.

Missing mother Mamta Kafle Bhatt, 28, is pronounced dead, Manassas Park Police Chief Mario Lugo confirmed Thursday, after police revised their original time frame and now believe her husband Naresh Bhatt was the last person to see her alive on July 31, according to Fox5.

Police now believe she was last seen four days earlier, on July 27, at UCA Health Prince William Medical Center. Her last contact was on July 28, when she was speaking with a friend.

The investigation began on August 2 after police received a call from Kafle’s co-worker demanding a welfare check because she had not shown up for her shift, WJLA reported.

After executing a search warrant at the family’s residence on Wednesday, detectives arrested Bhatt in connection with his wife’s disappearance.

The couple has one child, a daughter named Neema, who has been placed in the care of the social welfare office.

In yesterday’s press release, Manassas Park City Police stated, “The child is safe and being cared for.”

The press release also states that police are still investigating Kafles’ case and “hope to find her.”

Bhatt was being held without bail pending arraignment this morning.

In another press release, police claimed they had “obtained and executed over ten search warrants and conducted hundreds of hours of interviews in connection with this case.”

Nadia Navarro, a woman who claims to be another friend of Kafle, has started a Facebook and GoFundMe page to advocate for the missing mother and raise money for the search efforts. So far, more than $14,000 has been raised from 341 donations.

In her recent Facebook post, Navarro said she was “one of two people considered as candidates to care for Neema,” explaining that she had a spare room for the child and “would be honored to take her in.”

“We’ll make sure she doesn’t go to strangers or into a facility,” she added. “We love her and she’ll stay with us!”
