Marvin Robinson II, Kansas Representative and well-known supporter of the Quindaro ruins, dies at age 67

KANSAS CITY, Kansas (KCTV) – Kansas State Representative Marvin Robinson II died Thursday at the age of 67.

His death was confirmed by a Facebook post from his sister and Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins.

“It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of my brother Marvin S. Robinson II,” DeLisa Fowler wrote on Facebook. “But I am also filled with joy knowing that he has passed into the realm of the ancestors where he will be embraced by our mom and all those who have gone before us. May his memory inspire us to live with love and purpose.”

Robinson II represented the 35th district in the Kansas House of Representatives as a Democrat from 2023 until his death.

Previously, he served as a creative consultant for independent research on the historic Quindaro Ruins in Kansas City, Kansas, and advocated for its designation as a National Historic Landmark.

“It is with great sadness that we announce that our colleague, Rep. Marvin Robinson II, passed away yesterday,” Hawkins wrote in a post Friday morning. “Marvin was a beloved member of the House of Representatives and served his district with grace and integrity. He also served our nation as a member of the U.S. Navy. We are deeply saddened by this great loss. Please join me in praying for his family, friends and colleagues. Rest in peace, my friend.”

Some of the bills he introduced during his term called for a sales tax exemption on hygiene products, declaring Juneteenth a national holiday, and abolishing the death penalty.
