From the Winona Peach Festival to the Abba dance party, what’s there to do in Hamilton this weekend?

It will be a mostly sunny weekend in Hamilton, with plenty of events happening across the city starting Friday.

From the Winona Peach Festival to 73 ‘Til Infinity — part dance show, part street festival inspired by hip-hop and street dance culture — here are some things to do this weekend.

Winona Peach Festival

The Winona Peach Festivalfrom Friday to Sunday, promises something for every age group. In addition to rides and games for children of all ages, there are more than 75 artisans in the arts and crafts area.

The commercial exhibit area features over 100 vendors with a variety of products. The festival also includes free entertainment on the Main Stage/Safari Children’s Dentistry Stage and a commons area with many different types of food – including, of course, lots of peaches.

The main stage begins Friday evening and ends Sunday afternoon at Winona Park, 1328 Barton St. E. Admission is free.

Goat Palooza

Triple C Farm at 500 Carluke Rd. W. in Ancaster is hosting its annual Goat-a-palooza on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Organizers say there will be “tons of free entertainment,” including two bounce houses, educational tours, coloring pages, character meet-and-greets, lawn games and more. Admission is $10.

Flower field at Brantford Farms

From Thursday to Sunday – all summer long – you can Stroll through Brantwood Farms’ 3-acre flower field251 Powerline Rd., Brantford, and enjoy the sight and scent of more than 60 species of flowers, including sunflowers, lisianthus, zinnias, dahlias and sweet peas.

You can relax and enjoy the experience of choosing the perfect flowers for a beautiful arrangement for your home or as a gift. The farm will provide you with the flower scissors and containers for picking and will package your bouquet for you to take home.

Individuals and groups (two or more) must purchase a minimum of one jar of flowers valued at $15.

Revamped kitchen garden in Dundurn

Dundurn National Historic Site, 610 York Blvd., Hamilton, hosts a free outdoor garden event this Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 16 o’clock

Little ones are invited to participate in free nature-based activities in Sophia’s Garden, a new interactive space for children in Dundurn’s historic Kitchen Garden. This new garden features plants selected to encourage children to touch, smell and interact with nature. They are also invited to join Hamilton Children’s Museum staff to explore plants, animals and insects and participate in hands-on activities.

73 To Infinity

Returning for its second year, 73 ‘Til Infinity is part dance show, part street party, inspired by hip hop and street dance culture. Featuring an eclectic mix of dance routines, cyphers and battles with sounds from DJs The Brown Brothers, DJ Fazooli, Onglish & DJ Realistic, as well as live music performances from Lex Leosis, Stealth Elementz, Tarek Funk and SOAP, 73 ‘Til Infinity once again brings the atmosphere of a classic street party to Hamilton’s inner city.

The free event is for all ages and presented by the City of Hamilton and is curated and organized by Josh Taylor and Defining Movement Dance.

The final run of 73 ‘Til Infinity this summer will take place Friday night from 7-8 p.m. in the parking lot at Wilson and James Street North.

Abba dance party at Pier 8

There will be plenty of entertainment at an Abba dance party from 6-10pm at the HWT Patio, 57 Discovery Dr.

The event is free and suitable for all ages. There will be food, treats and slushies, popsicles, a glitter station with a makeup artist to give you a disco glam look, and a drag show with some Abba queens (and kings).

Vintage market

Hamilton Vintage Community and Markets has assembled a group of vintage vendors for a vintage market on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 57 Discovery Dr.

The free event will feature food and ice cream, and DJ Mar Sanchez will play “some feel-good summer songs.”

Laugha-Cadabra: A comedy magic show

From 8pm on Saturday there will be Magic and Comedy with magician Matt Disero, known from Penn & Teller’s “Fool Us”. The event takes place at the Levity Comedy Club & Lounge, 120 King St. W, Hamilton, and will feature magician Ken Pham and comedian Jimmy England. Tickets cost $20 plus tax.

Dub poetry

Dub poet Michael St. George live at the Mule Spinner11 Landsdowne Ave., Hamilton, Saturdays from 7pm to 10pm.

St. George, a native of Jamaica, is a unique dub performance artist. With his dramatic power and vocal prowess, St. George continually pushes the boundaries of song and poetry, using the rhythm of roots reggae, world beats and jazz influences to appeal to audiences of varying ages and cultures. Tickets are $27.96.

Hamilton Cardinals in the quarterfinals

The Hamilton Cardinals will play against the London Majors in the quarterfinals of the 2024 IBL Playoffs. The schedule for the series is as follows:

  • Game 1: Friday at 7:35 p.m. in London.
  • Game 2: Saturday at 7:35 p.m. in Hamilton.
  • Game 3: Sunday at 4:05 p.m. in London.
  • Game 4: Tuesday at 7:35 p.m. in Hamilton (if necessary).
  • Game 5: Wednesday at 19:35 in London (if necessary).

Artist talk with Melissa General

The Art Gallery of Hamilton will host a closing event and artist talk for Melissa General’s exhibition on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

As part of the RBC Artist in Residence program, General has taken over the Sculpture Atrium of David Braley and Nancy Gordon with an exhibition and a developing new body of work that focuses on her identity as a Mohawk artist of the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory.

The general is a Mohawk/Oneida from the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory.
