It has been over four years since Real Madrid signed Reinier Jesus from Flamengo, but the attacking midfielder is yet to make his debut for the club’s first team.

The Brazilian talent arrived in January 2020 for a transfer fee of 30 million euros and initially spent some time at Castilla before moving to Borussia Dortmund on loan for two years, which was a disaster.

Reinier then played for Girona and Frosinone for one season each, neither of which went well, and now he is back at Real Madrid with his future uncertain.

The young Brazilian is not part of Carlo Ancelotti’s first team. And although he was part of Castilla’s pre-season training, Raul Gonzalez does not seem to be counting on him.

Interest from three countries

Reinier is likely to leave Real Madrid on loan this summer, with Mario Cortegana of The Athletic reporting that there are interested parties from three different countries.

In fact, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder is on the radar of English club Norwich City, who are exploring the possibility of a loan deal with an option to buy. However, before this step can be made a reality, a number of differences still need to be resolved.

Meanwhile, the Spanish second division clubs Tenerife and Eibar have also enquired about Reinier’s situation in the hope of being able to sign him on loan.

However, if the disgraced young player were to move to one of these clubs, Real Madrid would have to cover a large part of his salary.

In addition, clubs from his home country Brazil are said to be interested, but Reinier has so far ruled out a return there at this stage of his career.

The 22-year-old has a contract with Real Madrid until 2026 and although he performed well in pre-season at Castilla, he will not be involved in tomorrow’s opening game of the new season against Marbella.

All parties involved are striving for a quick resolution of the matter.
