BMW Park unveils world’s first fully LED video sports floor – Display Daily

BMW Park is making headlines as the world’s first professional sports arena to have a permanent full-surface LED video glass floor installed. The innovative installation covers around 580 square meters and is a product of ASB GlassFloor, a provider of sports flooring solutions.

The floor is made of high-strength tempered glass and is suitable for various sports. The surface undergoes a computer-controlled chemical deep etching process to create the low-friction matte finish, with raised ceramic dots embedded in the glass to provide grip. BMW Park claims that the composition of the floor significantly reduces stress on joints thanks to its shock absorption properties, while still allowing ball play and jumping. There is also a system that provides real-time positional data of athletes with instant feedback on their movements, optimized for training and game strategy.

The floor features millions of LED dots beneath the glass surface, providing a range of visual representations, from team logos and sponsor brands to real-time match data and emotional video messages.

The floor is already used for Bundesliga home games by FC Bayern Basketball and the first division volleyball team from Herrsching. The venue is now equipped to host a wide range of events, from corporate presentations and roller discos to entertainment shows, all enhanced by the dynamic visual capabilities of the floor.
