Calling all music lovers and social media enthusiasts: Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to add music directly to their profiles – a reminder of the nostalgic Myspace days.

“We’re excited to announce that you can now add a song to your profile, giving you more ways to express yourself through music on Instagram! Swipe through to learn more,” the company said in a blog post.

To add music to your Instagram profile, open the Instagram app on your smartphone. Go to your profile by tapping the icon in the bottom right corner. Tap “Edit Profile.” Look for the new “Music” section and select the “+” icon. Choose the song you want from the available options, similar to adding music to your Instagram stories. Select the specific section of the song you want to highlight and tap “Done.”

Once you complete these steps, the music will appear on your profile. Visitors can click on the music icon to listen to the 30-second clip you selected. This feature not only highlights the personality of your profile, but also provides a snapshot of your music taste.

Instagram also recently rolled out another major update that allows users to post up to 20 photos and videos in a single grid post, doubling the previous limit of 10. This new feature builds on the carousel posts introduced in 2017, which allowed users to scroll through up to 10 photos or videos in one post. The feature quickly gained popularity and became known as the “photo dump” because it offers the ability to share multiple images and videos in a single, cohesive post.

As the popularity of the “photo dump” grew, Instagram responded by expanding the capacity to accommodate up to 20 media items in a single carousel. This update is designed to give users even more flexibility to showcase their content and share different collections of photos and videos at once.
